Why We Went with the Britax B-Safe 35

We have been fans of Britax since meeting a member of their team, Kate, in LA. Combine their friendliness with their safety record and you begin to quickly lean towards the brand.

We needed a car seat that met the following criteria:

  • Safety first!!
  • Light weight.
  • Easy to carry.
  • Soft, not scratchy, fabric.

Our last baby was born six years ago and after much research and debate, we chose to go back to Britax with our newest addition due this Fall. Our previous Britax Chaperone was heavy to carry, but we wanted the safety features and, of course, the Cowmooflauge design. We were willing to go with any brand so long as they met our criteria. Britax won.

This time around we went with the Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat version.

We had gone to a local store to check out the new design, check the weight and get a general idea of what had been happening during our time away from baby products. We were happy to find out that there were many positive changes, including:

  • Lighter weight
  • Amazing new fabric on the inside.
  • Visor that attaches to the back so it doesn’t flip forward

Of course, there’s also a stroller specifically made for the Britax B-Safe 35, which we also grabbed.

Overall this car seat met every demand we had for a new infant car seat. We trust the brand and we trust their safety record. Check out the Britax B-Safe 35 Infant Car Seat for yourself and come back and add your own stars to our review chart.

10 Things To Do While on Bedrest

You’re trying to keep your squish in your belly as long as you can and you’ve been put on bedrest. Here’s 10 ideas for things to do while on bedrest.

10. Get a kindle. There are so many amazing books. Start with the ones that will hook you. The Harry Potter series is sure to take you a couple solid weeks. Follow it with a movie marathon. Follow that idea by trailing after every book made into a movie.

9. Start a blog. Write about your thoughts, your fears, what you’re occupying your time with today.

8. Write a book. Any book. Ebooks. Ibooks. Anything you like.

7. Join FB groups for moms on bed rest. DO NOT join groups where people have fake names and like to bully other users. Trust me on this one.

6. Take up a craft. If you’ve ever wanted to knit, sew or be the next Brit + Co., today is the day.

5. Pin everything. Every project, idea, patio decoration, color scheme or party theme you’ve ever thought about. At least you’ll have the world’s most rockin Pinterest account.

4. Learn a language. How cool would it be to have a bilingual child? Learn a language you’ve always wanted now and then you’ll be able to chat it up in dual languages when your little is born.

3. Watch endless series episodes. Lost. Walking Dead. Vampire Diaries. Get started.

2. Shop, create registries and get ready for your bundle.

1. Look up everything you ever wanted to know about. You’re your own captive audience. Use the time to grow.

This list of 10 things to do while on bedrest is just the beginning. Use this list to expand and make your own list. Heck, blog about it and post the link to your list here in the comments.

Boppy Custom Fit Total Body Pregnancy Pillow Review

The Boppy Custom Fit Total Body Pregnancy Pillow just wasn’t for me. While I was only four months into my pregnancy, I am on baby number four and I have to admit that I NEEDED this pillow to work to support my already sore belly and back. I suffer from something called pelvic dysfunction, an issue caused by early release of relaxin in the body. Relaxin is a hormone intended to swarm the body close to birth, but some of us, me included, release the hormone early in pregnancy and it loosens cartilage that holds your pelvis together. Most of the time it makes it hard to walk and causes a horrible ache. I use a belt to hold myself together through the day and reduce the pain and discomfort, but the pillow was suppose to help by supporting my belly, therefore reducing the pressure on the rest of my body.

It just didn’t work for me.

While I love, love any and every boppy product ever made, this just isn’t one of them. The reason? The Velcro design that fell apart as I moved around. By time I woke up in the morning, the three pieces of the pillow had come apart from one another and were laying on the floor. When I woke up for my nightly run to the restroom, I tried to fumble in the dark to put it back together, but wasn’t successful and wasn’t going to turn on the light and wake up my husband. Needless to say, it was returned the next day.

I would love to say that this pillow would work for other moms, but honestly, at only four months in, I can’t imagine it working any better. At four months my bump isn’t exactly huge. Because of that, I can’t foresee moms with full-term bellies being able to keep it together.

Conclusion: If you move, at all, we feel like this pillow is going to pop the Velcro and end up on the floor just like it did with us. One GOOD thing about it is that the pillow does have three sections so you can pick and choose, but still, who wants to fight with an unruly product?
